Advent calendar production is the most schedule-sensitive work we do. If your retail window starts in October, June is not too early to brief us — here is how the calendar actually fills up.
Every year the same conversation happens in September: a brand wants 5,000 Advent calendars for a November retail launch, and every hand-assembly line in the industry is already committed. We would rather explain the constraint now than apologise later.
Why Advent calendars are different from other packaging. A folding carton comes off a machine. An Advent calendar is largely built by hand: 24 doors are die-cut, creased and folded, then glued into place individually. Filling and sealing each compartment — which is what most beauty and confectionery brands ask for — adds another pass over the same unit. One calendar can take several times the labour of a comparable rigid box.
The production window. Christmas work runs from July to early November. Our own capacity is committed roughly in this order:
- June–July — structural sampling and artwork approval for holiday projects
- August–September — full production of Advent calendars and gift sets
- October — filling, sealing, packing and shipping so goods clear customs in time
- November — only rush work, at premium cost and subject to capacity
What to prepare before you brief us. Four things decide whether a holiday project runs smoothly: the number of doors, whether you are filling the compartments yourself or asking us to, the finished unit size, and your artwork status. If you have all four, we can quote accurately in a day. If you have none, we can still talk — but the sample stage will take longer.
A note on MOQ. Our Advent calendar MOQ is 500 sets, which is low for this category because we are not buying tooling per design. If you are testing a concept for the first season, 500 sets is a realistic entry point rather than a lost year.
If you are planning for this Christmas and have not started, the useful question is not "can you do it?" but "what is the latest date at which we can still hold your retail launch?" Send us your target date and we will answer honestly — including when the answer is that we cannot.
